Huichol God's Eye (G)

This handcrafted creation consists of a geometric design woven with colored threads around a wooden structure that forms a cross. The design finally acquires the shape of an eye, hence its name in Spanish.

The Ojo de Dios has deep spiritual and cultural significance for the Huichol people. Traditionally, these objects are believed to have the power to protect people and homes from negative energies, as well as to promote wisdom and mental clarity. In addition, the Ojo de Dios is considered to represent divine vigilance and connection to the gods.

In practice, the making of an Ojo de Dios is a laborious process that is often performed as part of ritual ceremonies or community festivities. The colors and patterns used in weaving may have specific meanings within the Huichol cosmovision, and each Ojo de Dios is unique in its design and symbolism.

Today, Huichol Ojos de Dios are appreciated not only within the Huichol community, but also outside of it, as folk art objects and symbols of Mexico's rich cultural heritage. Many Huichol artisans continue to preserve this ancestral tradition, creating beautiful Ojos de Dios.
