Huichol Art Elephant

Huichol art, also known as wirrárika, is a traditional art form of the indigenous Huichol community, who live mainly in the Mexican states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Durango and Zacatecas. This art is characterized by the use of chaquira (glass beads) and beeswax on different objects, such as sculptures, masks, bowls and animals, to create colorful designs and patterns that reflect their worldview and cultural traditions.

Among the most emblematic figures of Huichol art are the elephants, which are elaborated with the chaquira technique on structures of diverse materials. These elephant sculptures are decorated with intricate geometric and symbolic designs, representing the Huichol's spiritual connection with nature and their religious beliefs.
