The sailfish (or swordfish, Istiophorus platypterus) is a figure that can also be represented in Huichol art, although it is not one of the most common animals in traditional iconography. However, just like other marine elements or animals represented by the Huichol, the sailfish has a deep symbolism in their culture and can be interpreted in terms of its importance in the nature and spiritual cosmovision of the Wixárika (Huichol).
